Really, there’s not much to say about this topic. To earn Sweatcoin, you keep your app open at all times and … walk! Sweating is not even necessary, as it tracks both relaxed walking as well as vigorous running and rewards you for both.
I wrote a guide on specific ways to earn Sweatcoin, but here I offer more food for thought that may help you on your journey.
1. Invest in some nice running or walking shoes
If you’re new to physical activity, you’re in for a treat. You’ll be able to experience the benefit of aerobic exercise … well, as soon as you can head out the door! However, your feet will be in for a nasty surprise if you don’t have adequate equipment. Many Sweatcoin offers cater to helping you get geared up, but in order to earn those offers you’ll need some shoes to start you out.
Go to your local running store. Even a Target or Walmart will have some basic shoes to get you started. Make sure they fit and are comfortable. Don’t be ashamed to walk a few laps around the store aisles to make sure they work for you. (Of course, you’ll also be earning Sweatcoin in the process.) You’ll know within a few minutes if they aren’t right for you. Something will seem off about the shoes. It may even be minor. Listen to your gut instinct; even if you can’t figure out what’s wrong with them, just imagine what that discomfort can turn into if you keep up your walking for 30 or 45 minutes.
A good pair of shoes will feel like an extension of your leg; you won’t even notice them.
Note: It’s recommended that you switch out your shoes every 500 miles or so. Your body will tell you when your shoes are ready for the trash bin; you’ll experience discomfort, aches, muscle pains because the tread and padding are wearing out. Don’t ignore this!
2. Create a habit: Walk every day
It’s easier to go on a walk when you establish a habit. I encourage you to get in that habit of walking absolutely every day. Make a personal goal, for example, “I’m going to earn 3 Sweatcoin per day.” Accept nothing less. Over time you’ll be able to increase that amount as you gain more strength, aerobic capacity, and endurance.
It may help you to set a time to do your ‘Sweatcoin mining sessions’ such as right when you wake up, on your lunch breaks, after work, or all of the above! Don’t always assume you’ll be motivated or have free time later on; get your walk in as early as possible to make it a good start to a great day!
